Frequently Asked Dental Questions - Grand Prairie, TX

Answers That Will Make You Smile

Have a question? Want to know more about Real Dental or your treatment options with us? We’re always happy to answer patient questions, so below, you’ll find our response to some of the most frequently asked dental questions we receive every day. Of course, if there is anything else you’d like to know more about, don’t hesitate to give us a call and ask—there is no such thing as a silly question with us!

How often should I visit the dentist?

This can vary from person to person, but on average, we recommend that someone should visit us for a checkup and cleaning at least twice a year. This is often enough that our team will be able to remove harmful plaque from the teeth before it does any damage, plus we’ll be able to find potential problems early so we can treat them right away.

Do you see children?

Yes! Real Dental is ready to treat every member of your family, including its youngest members. We take pride in being able to help every child feel comfortable in our dental office, and we know how to put them on the path to a lifetime of optimal oral health.

When should my child start getting checkups & cleanings?

We recommend that a child should start visiting the dentist regularly around 6 months, or when their baby teeth appear. It’s important that these new teeth are well-taken care of. These early-age visits will teach a child how important their oral health is, making them more likely to brush at home and maintain regular dental visits as they get older.

I have an awful toothache. What should I do?

A painful toothache is often a sign of a dental injury or infection, so you should give our dental office a call right away. You likely won’t be able to fix this type of problem on your own. We’ll schedule you for an appointment ASAP, but in the meantime, you can lessen any discomfort by gently rinsing and flossing around the tooth as well as taking an OTC pain-reliever.

What is the best way to whiten my teeth?

While you’ll find plenty of take-home whitening treatments on store shelves, the truth is that most of them are very weak and simply cannot deliver the dramatic results they promise. At Real Dental, however, we can provide you with a custom-made whitening kit that uses a bleaching gel multiple times stronger than anything you can buy on your own. With it, you’ll be able to whiten your smile by up to 8 shades, and you can use it whenever and wherever you want!

Will you accept my dental insurance?

Most likely yes! We are in-network with Delta Dental and accept plans from almost every other insurance provider as well. You can view a list of our accepted plans here, or you can give us a call, and we’ll be happy to go over your benefits with you.

I don’t have insurance. Is there another way I can save on my dental care?

Yes! You can sign up for our Real Dental Membership Club. With it, you pay just one flat fee for the entire year, and your checkups and cleanings are 100% covered, plus you’ll receive a 30% discount on all other services. There are no premiums, deductibles, or yearly maximums, so there is literally no limit on how much you can save with our plan! To learn more about it and sign up today, give us a call.
